If Nostr had a unified/unifying goal, what would it be?

I ask because I guarantee you, if it didn't have one that everyone could get behind, it's going to turn into a dumpster fire like the others.

And because wherever people congregate, it will always turn to shit.
 Frohi Jagd, min Fründ.
Freedom, I suppose. Though most people don’t understand freedom until omits been taken from them.
Your brain is on collectivism, detox it by thinking about the individual, incentives, & behavior when you're creating your own feed.
So that's what you get out of a simple question? Let me make a suggestion, don't make any assumptions on people you know nothing about on your own feed.
I didn't make a single assumption, very clearly you're calling "everyone" to action, unless we "unify" we will fail "assuredly".
Yes. Nothing lasts. But is individual freedom not an unifying goal?
Freedom by definition is just empowering the individual.
The fact that Nostr doesn’t have a ‘unified’ goal is freedom.
The dumpster fire you refer to is the product of such.
Is freedom not a exemplary unified goal? You don't want everyone to get behind it?
It doesn’t matter what I want.
Freedom seekers will find the way.
It does matter because you are either for freedom or not.
what do you mean by nostr in this exchange? do you mean the group developing it? or do you mean everyone using it?
Everyone who has chosen to spend time here.
 You are here. Using Nostr.
If you think ‘anywhere that people congregate turns to shit’ then you are the problem.
Good luck to you.
Well, history will tell you that the 'turns to shit' part is inevitable.
not to be a… i don’t know. downer? blackpiller? i honestly don’t believe humans can… 🤔 … no i’ll say it in a different way. everything goes to shit, and gets remade. we just do our best wherever we are on the pendulum swing 😏
It's a vicious cycle. How do we up if we've not seen down.
i get what you’re saying… but man that goal would have to be stripped down to its absolute essence.
Like, “keep nostr freedom preserving”. Which even then will cause all kinds of mortal combat.
Something like a nostrtution 🤓
lol. I think people take things too seriously. It's a question worth asking nonetheless. Besides, freedom in its absolute form is chaos.
i don’t know. i just want to talk to cool people in different places, do cool things, help others become more independent, and have the State worshiping meddlers leave me TF alone.
No kidding. I'm halfway there in my quest for absolute independence from the state. I don't even live in a shit country.
Are you sure? Shit hides well
Shit does hide well. It's relatively not a shit country compared to some of it neighbours. Also a matter of opinion of someone that lives in it. If it were truly shit, I wouldn't live in it.
you’re living in one of the most beautiful places in the world 🇨🇭
That I do.. but so is America (assuming you live there). Ultimately it's the people and culture that make the place.
I live on the Olympic Peninsula, north west corner of the U.S., near Canada. It’s also one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever seen. But the old farms around Lake Geneva left a life long impression.
Still, Sequim, a town in the rain shadow on the peninsula is pretty close… https://i.nostrimg.com/08992347d4f395da90ce35f5bb1843221f5362e0e7b7cccba4709f9255ed0eb7/file.jpeg https://i.nostrimg.com/15f16ee473aa78aff80cd066605793ecc4eb5ca092f981edc8a987463569ec72/file.jpeg
 That is gorgeous.

I've driven up the coast from San Diego to Seattle. What a drive that was. I was in Jackson Hole, WY two years ago in autumn and it was as beautiful as it gets. There's no place like home but that came pretty close. That area of Yellowstone, Jackson, Wilson.. beautiful country.
I had a friend who lived in Port Angeles for a while. Loved to visit her and hike the Olympic National Park. Gorgeous area. Thanks for the photos!!! #photography #olympicpeninsula #washingtonstate
Não há como ordenar um objetivo comum a todos. Impossível. Pessoas aspiram coisas diferentes, o Nostr apenas nos garante a liberdade pra isso.
Is freedom not a common goal?
Não, liberdade remete a pluralidade de ser e manifestar-se no mundo 🌎
Do you even know what it is?
Não, apenas sou responsável por configurar meu ideal de liberdade.
 Individual freedom. Free agency. Liberty.

That is the unifying goal. You know, the principle that the USA was originally founded on, but has since been overrun by the evils of forced collectivist ideologies such as socialism, communism ans progressivism.
Trying to find a 'unifying goal' that 'everyone could get behind' implies not welcoming those that don't believe in the goal or don't want to get behind it.

This may surprise you, but many people just want a place to talk shit freely. The absence of a goal is the goal.
I think that's called, individual freedom.
What more do you want from a platform such as this?
Nothing. I could care less what happens to this place tbh. I do support it. Does it have any bearing in my real life? Absolutely none.
That's great, so why do we need a unified/unifying goal again?
Because individual freedom is not a terrible goal to have. A person is are either for it or against it.
I think trying to define individual freedom as a goal is self defeating. Is someone free to be against individual freedom? Do we still want them here?

I think individual freedom is the absence of an overall goal.
Sure. They may already be here. Do we still want them here? That's not up to any collective and shouldn't be, but up to the individual who sees their note.

I think anyone who doesn't want individual freedom will try to take it away from you.

To not have that goal as a platform means this place will be no different from the one everyone else ran away from.
