it is. You can run a monero node with umbrel.
Umbrel gobbled up too much ram even on a 32gb machine, gradually over weeks of uptime, every time.

Switched to Start9 for many reasons, especially security.

Pretty cool though. I'm not against monero, but for me its just an anonymization tool for btc.

Btc is the best savings account on earth. :)
i got the umbrel awhile back. it was it is.

re Monero essentially I'm in Monero becuse money needs to be fungible. Bitcoin is not fungible.

I started with MyNode a couple years ago, then migrated to Umbrel and now with Start9 and I wont touch the other two with a 10 foot pole. Great way to shorten the life of your machines unnecessarily and use more electricity and open security holes for newbies.

My life savings don't have to be fungible. Monero has to be fungible, otherwise it has no use case, especially since it doesnt have a real supply limit, doesnt have a lot of nodes, and those nodes dont do a proper initial full sync either, so you have to "trust" the monero devs.

With BTC as my savings and monero available for my pizza days, they work together nicely. Typically I dont spend any bitcoin more than once every couple of years, and even still there is always Bitcoin Lightning and atomic swaps for those one off moments where I make big purchases.

Even with those big purchases, i typically go to a NO-KYC over the counter BTC dealer that only charges 1%. Less of hassle than having to to use monero that very few people even in the "crypto" community want to accept as payment.

So there is also cash after visiting this money changer, which is much more flexible than monero. Who cares that its fiat, Monero isnt going to get anyone much wealth by holding onto it ever.

Bitcoin is the savings king.

I mean its great that monero exists, but thats about it.
Basically for when they phase out cash we all have a backup plan for when we want to get rid of our Bitcoin.

Cherry tomatoes are quite fungible too if we think of things in the short term, but if my nobody wants them how fungible is that ? :)

I think Monero is what Bircoiners think they are buying.

Monero has Relative scarcity (near 0% inflation and trends down to 0% over time) and Bitcoin has absolute scarcity.

But Monero has Fungibility.
