Twitter is also a lot bigger than bitcointwitter. In fact most of twitter have no idea bitcointwitter exists. My twitter feed is actually pretty good.
It does a decent job at showing you stuff that keep you somewhat interested for sure.
I actually just look at 'following' and chronological feed, so don't really have too much / any interaction with algo. Afaik. I've just curated a good, varied feed there
Algo still decides what you see/don't see from those you follow
