@7b682b86 In my mind, it really doesn't matter what the plot is. The importance is how it relates personally for the main character. You get invested in them and how the plot messes up their life. I enjoyed Bernard Cornwell's Saxon series which was about the birth of England. But the series followed a warlord from boyhood to old age with his personal battles and conflicting emotions since he felt both Saxon and Dane. The creation of England was the backdrop for his personal story. 

 @c09f86d3 I agree. No matter the plot, it's the characters that matter and the MC who matters most. That's why I start every story with the MC, including my series.
