not possible. a rock is a weapon. a stick can be made into a spear. A car can be driven into a crowd. A 250 lb man can rape a smaller woman without a weapon. Good people with weapons are the only thing to stop evil people with weapons. Also, hunting, defense against animal attacks, to name a few reasons why a means of defense is of the utmost importance.
Thats the excuse all politicians use to have weapons. Take the example of Venezuela, or Gaza, without weapons would be fist against fist and not the one that has more municians or better equipment, or money/funds to get it to win.

We arent talking about war. We are talking about you saying there should be no weapons. And yes, if she can afford either, that is her right to do so

Well, that cannot be changed. That is an unfortunate reality. But it is reality nonetheless. So you can ignore reality, but you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality. Wishful thinking is not going to prevent violence. Criminals have always existed and always will. And as such, people have the right and the duty to defend against such. Evil exists.
I am not ignoring reality. But fighting power with power has taken humanity nowhere. It has escalated thoughout the years. And repeating the same behaviour expecting different results is madness. I think that a lot of violence and criminality exists because since very young age we are conditioned and repressed to act in a way that allows the ones in power to control us. And people react differently to this conditioning. More and more people with personality disorders are spreading around the world, is insane. So the issue is not about defense, or weapons, that in future can have really nasty results. The issue is about building character and how we raise our childrens. The amount of inbalance that exists in opportunities, wealth distribution to name a few.
So a parent shouldnt be able to defend his or her child and women shouldnt be able to defend themselves against rapists is what you are saying. Really that is exactly what you are saying.
No, that's not what I am saying. I am far from saying that. I have children of my own. The issue you are talking about has nothing to do with the use of weapons or not. How can a baby defend himself, alone, with an adult that is abusing him? What would a weapon be of any use in this horrible outrageous situation?
What of people who live where animals may be a threat? Shouldnt be able to defend against a bear or wolf? What of hunting? Should people not be allowed to eat meat? What of things that can be weapons used in growing crops? Anything can be a weapon. Fists can be weapons. Ban em?
You don't get Peace by going to war or buy using weapons. You gain peace by changing behaviour and mindsets.
My weapons are for defense. My weapons are not a cause of war nor are any weapons. People are.
Exactly! My point is exactly that. Not against the use of weapons for self defense against real dangers. But against the use of weapons as a mean to control and get resources and wars between countries. Do you get me? Either way, I believe that if we evolve as a species towards cooperation and helping each other, we would gradually not have the need of using weapons, except for the defence against dangerous animals. IMHO
And you dont get peace by being defenseless against those with intent to harm. You get peace by being able to stop aggressors.

Look, I really do get what you are saying. But the minds of millions, if not billions, need be changed first. But until that time, people need defense against predators, whether the two or four legged variety. And leaving people defenseless will not make the predators suddenly play nice. Yes, you can say its a vicious circle but unfortunately that's the world we inherited and the reason I fight is for future generations to live in the very world you are describing. 🙏

I get it. But defend of what? Those who have the weapons, have them so if needed "attack" us all. It's one of the most grotesque lies upon humanity.
When the strong attack the weak, both sides having firearms make the fight much more fair than if both sides were armed with sticks and rocks.

And as you may observe, all wars are strategicaly done, far away from the countries that found them...so ai don't see who are the week that needs to be defended form the strongest..... And I doubt that the majority of population on earth, want to have weapons to fight their fellow humans.

I think greed and envy are in the core of all wars...and power. If civilization would evolve in ways of everyone having the same opportunities and access to wellbeing, we can and will have peace. Of course, as things are now, this would take a great reset....

Is about resources....who has resources has more chance to survive. Any war at this moment has the intervention of major potencies just because of resources. They would not give a damn if petrol, or Gaz or carbon or lithium is not involved in the equation. My point is, I will tell you that probably, only 10% of worlds population, would be interested in control...and fight without looking at means. What about the other 90%? Taking my rough measure, I would say 90% want Peace. We are letting the 10% dictate and make their option/decision/choice, our own. I hate fights , I don't want fights and I avoid it at all costs.
We would have to cut everyone's hands and feet off to prevent kicking and punching... 😉
