this is why i rarely load apps for services or devices, with a web portal you don't give as much personal data / access away

if a device is app only access it don't come in my house unless there's a VERY good reason or i've checked it don't need excessive permissions to your device

have a look at the app store information and see how many apps want access to camera, microphone, address book etc then ask

"why does this app need that access when it doesn't use them?"
@e7b4518c it’s not really a trauma and it’s easy to control….any app asking for data from my contacts is immediately denied. There’s absolutely need to see my contact info!

@e7b4518c Yep! I run all those little IoT and TV boxes on their own VLAN, far away from everything else with tight controls on where they can go on the internet.

As far as my phone, "there's an app for that!". Not on my phone there isn't, apps can not be trusted near my contacts, email and messages.

We've come so far from the virtual beer app days, the innocence and trust is long long gone.
