If pet rats are so common now, then why the heck do people still hate wild rats in the cities? They are the same animals. Curious, intelligent, earnest, lovable, loyal, fastidious, clean, and absolutely adorable.

My first rat, Winnie was a rescue from the icy snow-filled street after several consecutive blizzards. I loved her to bits! She taught me the ways of rats, the hard way. πŸ˜‚πŸ₯°πŸ˜…πŸ₯ΉπŸ©·πŸ€

@74b235cf There is similar disdain for pigeons. An unpleasant guy at a bus stop got annoyed with me for tossing a few walnut bits for some nearby pigeons. He said the ones with the red eyes are all diseased: that their eyes turn red when they get this mystery disease. Sigh.

@089823a0 Never heard of such disease! Yeah… pigeons do make scenes though, they’re theatrical and dramatic. lol

Between pigeons and rats, I can’t keep a birdfeeder in my flowerbed anymore, for the sake of getting along with human neighbors. I just give a cup of seeds on the ground for little birds. Pigeons only come here in the summer. And we have a rat birthControl bait box.
