that's engineering in general, and especially software but also just any job that isn't yours always looks easy "how can this possibly take so long?"
Absolutely 💯 I’ve been very amused by a couple of recent requests I’ve seen on here for creative work (writing, graphic design, etc) offering literal pennies on the dollar compared to what any freelancer would normally charge for that work.
1 bitcoin for a gif button? 😂😂
Lmao maybe the reverse of this meme is true too? 🤣 https://m.primal.net/JyQH.jpg
It’s not always obvious what a sensible bounty ought to be. Would be nice to have some sort of price discovery system. You define the goal, offer to pay X, and ppl can counter saying they’ll do it for Y. Or maybe people can just chime in saying “a fair price for this job would be such and such” even without necessarily offering to take the job themselves.
💯 that would be awesome. I don’t blame people for wanting to save money, and I don’t blame anyone for wanting to make money. Sometimes the disparity is just comical 😂 Sometimes it comes down to communication too. Like, if someone doesn’t have an adequate budget then they should just say so, and then people considering it at least understand what they’re walking into.
Ah, price discovery… damn free markets
This is also true in closed source software companies 🤣
🥲
