The McCarthy ouster from the House speaker's chair is by far the top story in American political journalism today.
But while you'll find dozens of (repetitive) stories about the ins and outs of the political machinations, you won't find many about what one party's willful capture by extremists means to the rest of us.
What's happening is the deliberate wrecking of policies that help people -- and democracy itself.

It would appear that *that* party's capture by extremists was but a handful of whacks that played the numbers game to make a statement. It is now incumbent on *that* party's actual leaders to take back control of the children and play nice on the schoolyard.

Nobody seems to have answered whether or not it would have been better to keep a Lame Duck McKarthy with the gavel since at least we know he'll keep the government open.
