i mean do pilots ever deal with passengers? even on flights where it's p obvious flight ops have fucked up they just keep the door shut and let the flight attendants take the dirty looks as we deplane

Yeah, that’s what spooks me about it. According to the fedregs, the captain is THE guy in charge. (as in the “ultimate authority in regards to all operations of the aircraft”, if memory serves) He’s the one who has to go and directly address stuff if it’s serious enough. If the niggs are getting too niggy on a flight, he’s the one who comes back to say “here’s the deal, you cut this shit out or we divert to the nearest airport and you deplane with the cops where they’ll sack you with a $25,000 fine to start while they see what charges to press.” It sounds like a nightmare to me, the boomers in the left seat these days don’t understand they’re one “uh did you just call me da NWor’?!?!“ away from being obliterated from employment
