I will never stop saying this. ALL elections are rigged as far as I’m concerned because of this simple, undeniably fucking retarded fact.

Closed source voting machines have a single purpose, fraud. Period. nostr:note17yxrfrm7fy9zmk6wsnkg26z8mnfc20fgpgan4ln6yrw4hmpl8x7sj500ju
Couldn’t agree more. It’s like playing a game without rules.
Rules exist... namely that all peoples are equal, but some people are more equal than others.
I installed a dozen voting machines in my county almost 20 years ago. They were so very unsophisticated at the time. If I would have known better, I would have advocated to look into open source options. To be honest, I don't even know if open source options even exist for voting machines? Do they? If they do, that is something we could advocate for.
Additionally, open source voting machines are only as good as the auditors that audit them. That should be part of the proposal as well.
Paper is the only current option. However a secure voting system isn’t that hard either. There are numerous proposals that would work, transition would simply be difficult. But it’s not even necessary, simple is better for something like this and there’s nothing wrong with paper ballots. You just have to distribute the operation of verifying better. Simple proof is a great example of how good it could be
 Hmm. Slight update.

The voting machines that I installed were just electronic counting machines. We still use paper ballots. But the machines do the counting.

Honestly I swear that the machines installed are still used today to do the counting. They look exactly the same on the outside at least.

Do fully electronic ballots exist? I could Google this I guess 😂
Even if the machines were open source, free from bugs, and we all voted for one candidate, they still might not get the electoral college votes.
It doesn’t fix democracy because the idea is already fundamentally broken. But it does stop a viciously stupid and brazen fraud that makes things worse for no reason and is really easy to fix
couldn't there be fraud with open-source machines?
Sure, there’s more than just open source to the problem. But anything else is meaningless without it being open source and verifiable first.

It’s the equivalent of taking paper ballots, having ONE person count all of them, then put them in a pile and burn them all. Then saying that it’s been verified because the guy told us what they were.
Probably because they're built by old school companies that are still in a closed / proprietary mind set
bureaucrats run the state not elected officials.
Why are voting machines even a thing. Who woke up and thought, “ya know what doesn’t work, paper ballots..we should invent better voting technology”?

After seeing what was done with Simple Proof and Stakwork, I firmly believe that voting must occur in its simplest form with a network of validators certifying the results. Until we get that in the US, it will always be rigged
 My thoughts exactly
We have the technology to have decentralized, transparent, secure and verifiable solutions.

Anything else is just fraud.
 100%
No doubt. We don’t have free and fair elections because the people in charge don’t want free and fair elections.
LETS MAKE SURE NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT COMPLAIN ONLINE
THAT WILL REALLY SHOW THEM
INSTEAD OF PARTICIPATING IN POLITICS AND ASSURING OUR VOTES OUR COUNTED
LETS JUST GO SPEND XMR ON FURRY PORN INSTEAD
THAT WILL SHOW THEM!!!!
The argument for open source voting machines is valid, but to link this to rigged elections is a step too far. No doubt thousands of voters will use this as an excuse when the vote doesn't go their way next week!!

Samples are taken, the results audited. This isn't rigging. Yes, maybe it could be more transparent in how the code works, but if anybody thinks the the Electoral Boards use counting machines with no checks and balances, then they should do more research.

Chemtrails forcing votes one way is another story (hahahahahaha).

Having gone down this rabbit hole the previous US election, I fully agree with this.
