Bolt12 kinda reminds me of tor. It’s good for privacy, but it’s slow and doesn’t always work. Great option to have, but not sure if it will ever become the most popular option for lightning payments.
I often hear one of the advantages of BOLT12 is that a static QR code can be used. Can’t a QR code be created for a Lightning address? Wondering what the differences are.
You need a webserver for a lightning address, with Bolt12 everything is handled by your lightning node itself.
So what are the pros and cons? Is BOLT12 viewed as better because it’s typically your own node whereas a Lightning address is typically custodial?

You know, I bookmarked this at one point. Thanks! 😄
Same sentiment. Also DNSSEC which is a requirement isn't the most straightforward to setup. It isn't even supported on digital ocean.
