Oddbean new post about login | logout I’ve seen a lot of people post this kind of notes recently but wondering what a “free Palestine” looks like. Not being combative, I just honestly am curious. Does that mean no Israel? Does it mean Israel cut in half? Does it mean Palestine is Gaza? And if an official state existed, would that stop the terrorizing both ways? I think the war should absolutely stop as that is never going to solve the issues. Could the holy lands be shared by multiple religions?
This is exactly why Isreal continues to get away with occupation and genocide. A free Palestine cannot exist without Isreal paying for its crimes. And the narrative automatically shifts to something being taken from Isreal. The genocide has happened. It's been 9 months of genocide. Most of the Palestinian children and women, pregnant women... All slaughtered. This is the reality. At minimum, to me, Free would mean that Isreal's president and military be held responsible for its war crimes. That the rest of the world stands up against Isreal the way the US supposedly stood up to Russia. And Isreal end their occupation of Palestinian land and move out of those occupied spaces. But these things will never won't happen. Isreal is planning to build beach front vacation properties in Gaza. They're doing pre-sales right now. A free Palestine will never happen. So long as the US runs this world. But we must still demand it. Or they will do it to Egypt next.
