Without a doubt commercial farming and commercial processing is fucked. Pesticides I wouldn’t be as worried about as plants are completely full of them to start, all plants have much more naturally occurring pesticides by weight than any amount sprayed on them. Cows are evolved to break it all down. That and the omega 6 short chain fatty acids, which is one of the main reasons ruminant meats are so good for us. The cows break down the shit we can’t.
Solvents I don’t know about in particular (concentrations) but obviously not something you want anything living to ingest.
I’ve heard Ken Berry talk about the chemical composition of grain fed lots vs grass fed and the difference in the meat nutritional content of the meat is minimal, surprisingly. But they were checking for any latent solvents or toxins that I’m aware of.
You make some good points, but I'm not comparing eating plants with meat.
I'm comparing eating beef & better beef.
Well, eating CLAs vs Super contaminated versions.
Yeah I get what you’re saying and I pay more for good locally raised beef. I do think some of the factors in lower quality feed are mitigated by ruminant physiology but it still sucks for the cows are that beef is definitely worse quality. I’ll always advocate for better conditions for animals too.
