Eugenics has the same problem that censorship has. Just like with speech where we can't answer the question "who gets to decide what is and isn't true?" neither can we answer the question "who gets to decide what is and isn't bred into the next generation?" (well, we can decide for our family, but not for others) None of us is wise enough to answer that, even if we understand the general principle that suspending natural selection must be weakening us.

I predict within 200 years A.I. will perform eugenics on us.
 Fuck. The. System.
I genuinely can't believe how correct I am on this, despite what may or may not occur. Is, Fuck. The. System, ever the wrong answer? Ever?
You expect AI governance to be implemented with a planning horizon further out than next press conference?

That would be a very, very different world to the one we live in.

Instead, I'm anticipating "Idiocracy" with robot babysitters, but set in a slum.
We will be their pets. They will breed us.
 Fort possible
our government is VERY actively pursuing DYSgenics.
 Interesting reasoning.

Is "suspending natural selection" really possible, though?

Humans are always interacting consciously/unconsciously with/in their environment. As soon as A.I. will have some amount of direct control over people's behaviour, working around this control will become part of the natural selection process. As long as people have a certain amount of autonomy in what they do, there's hardly a way around natural selection, no?
