Pimms = gin? 🤯 wow, I’ve had gin before, and never knew. Quite possibly a really silly note but I dunno much about alcohol 🙏🏽 always wondered how people go to the bar and order all these things and know whats in it. There must have been a class I missed in school or something. It’s like when everyone suddenly knew how to tie their shoe laces and I was still using Velcro 🫠
The flavors of alcohol and what food pairs good with them is one whole rabbit hole itself
I have a whole book thats just wine notes and parings. 😅
I missed that class too 😆 Good I don't do alcohol (anymore) 😂 And in my youth it wasn't that complicated...we bought our bottles and we drank on the street...
When I was a teenager if you could order a real drink convincingly at a bar you wouldn’t get carded. I was watching an indie film one night with a Smirnoff placement and so there was a small exchange about a martini order. I rewatched that scene until I had the order down. It was a Smirnoff martini, 3 olives, a little dirty. I was able to order it without getting carded. Didn’t take long for a bartender to suggest I try Grey Goose instead. So then I was a 16 year old drinking Grey Goose Martinis with 3 olives, a little dirty. Got the nickname martini chick. Then I got older and tried things I actually like the taste.
🤣🤣😂🤣😂🫂 I could just imagine you taking notes ❤️🔥 amazing. One day I’ll order you a drink at the bar, watch me sweat trying to figure out what to say 🥲. I asked for rum and coke once - at uni I think it was - and he asked me which rum, and I said ‘the one pirates drink, please’ cos I didn’t know there was more than one. Also, why do they put dirty olives in the drinks 😭 is it to give it an earthy taste? I recently learned why Bond likes it shaken not stirred 🔥
A little dirty in a martini just means a bit of olive juice added. I’ve also seen some people swish a martini glass with beer, which is actually delightful. The olives are as clean as bar olives can be and my favorite part. Last time I ordered a martini I think I had one sip and the olives while wondering how I ever stomached martinis.
Also the older I get the less I care about not knowing about something. So if a friend has a drink I’ve never tried I just ask to try it. Also tastes change over time. Try new drinks as you will. Also I’m not a big fan of feeling inebriated so I love a good mocktail. I’ve never had a Pimm’s Cup or even a G&T. I always wanted to try those in London/ UK because they seem like British drinks.
Yeahh I’m caring less about people knowing I know nothing about alcohol 😂💯🫂 I don’t drink anymore so less pressure to figure it out, but if I’m ordering for someone I’m gonna ask them to write it down for me for sure cos I will just come back with a sparkling water 🤣🫂 Ooo mocktails! I actually haven’t tried many of those. I think you would like Pimms - I never tried G&T but people talk about it rather a lot here. I used to get drunk from eating the fruit from my cup of Pimms. It’s a nice summery drink and I liked that you can’t taste the alcohol, but I suppose that’s the dangerous part. I only learnt today that it was a British drink too 🥹
