 Its because of zeuspay: it uses zaplocker. It holds the zaps for me until I open the app to redeem. 

Do you mostly write your own notes/memes? (ie less interactions with others)

 I only mute GM/GN posts. It's not the feed side that's broken, it's the distribution. Nostr needs an algo. Badly. Like super badly. 

Whatever client adds one will win. 

 Primal sort of has one with their sidebar, fairly useless tho.

 Ya agree. I have Primal too. The trending is ok, but it requires a swath of sharing.

Love or hate TikTok and its userbase, but it unequivocally has the best algo.

Open app, auto curated feed. I don't even have to follow anyone. The algo does everything for me. And fucking good too. That's how it should be.

 I think finding a niche, beyond bitcoin which is what unites us, obviously, something that people are interested in: maybe art, memes, cooking or whatever and post about it.
little by little you can build an "audience". 

 I am a very shy person.
but despite that, I see that taking a genuine interest in people, reposting their stuff, answering their questions, and socializing in general is working for me.

 I started recently in nostr, and I had the same impression that you have.
Then I realized that I was using my profile as the front page of a website: just to show what I do.
Just a couple of days ago I started reposting and interacting in general and I realize that the dynamic changed a lot for the better. 

 Cool. Ya I've had an account over a year. Curation is really bad (on consumption side and distribution). Gonna have to start playing around with clients I think.

 I was trying to test out Mutiny's LN address, but I guess it's not working. Swapped to a different one, so I think it'll work now. 

 She worked! Is Mutiny easy? I stick to the ol' faithful centralized WoS. Ease of use trumps the 6 speed manual transmission these days.🤣  

 I've honestly had a lot of issues with it. I want to like it because I like the roadmap and ethos, but I have payments fail all the time, the fedimint integration hasn't worked once for me, routes constantly fail for the LN Address, etc. I pay for Mutiny+ to support development, but Zeus is my daily driver to self-custodial LN right now. Just works more reliably for me.

 I’m not a developer so most of the posts are not as relevant for me. I can only read about Bitcoin, Nostr and zapping so much. The remaining posts are mostly naive anarchism posts.

I look at trending and most zapped. I also tried to see who Jack and other high profile accounts follow.

I don’t post much because I no longer feel safe opening my life up to the internet like many of us did 10-20 years ago. It’s just not smart. Tweets have been used to crucify, cancel, stalk, harass, defame, and litigate years after the fact. 

 Ya finding niche is tough for me too. I'm good with dev posts, love being around people smarter than me.

Builders, makers, problem solvers, critical thinkers, traders. Those are my people.

The vomitous Bitcoin worship, GM/GN, and Instagram BS is annoying. It's a free speech platform. Exercise it. Push the boundaries. Not seeing enough of that. Maybe I'm using it wrong.

 I think the echo chamber thing may be because there is no algo pushing some accounts vs others ie you have to go find your community and people you like. You have to go message people about questions you have etc. Perhaps we have become lazy from previous social media algos and now we got Stockholm syndrome and expect everything to be done for us. I recently started this account as a side from my personal one and noticed a lot of accounts that I hadn't before just cos I was trying to find certain groups and people I hadn't before. My 2 sats. 

I don't think it's broken just how it works here. Woke. Haven't seen many. Abandoned. Verified users are shrinking it seems. Although other stats say growing.

 Agree very much with all of that. We need an algo. Without one, it's like going to a restaurant where they make you grill your own steak. I suspect these "self-service" pains are causing users to exhaust out. 

 Oh I wasn't saying we need an algo but just noting the diff. I agree for adoption however most people will prefer it. But then we enter down the same rabbit hole Twitter went down. Who watches the watchers? Who stops the algo makers from from becoming authoritarian. I suppose it would be cool to be able to install diff algos. You like Coke I like Pepsi. I like the 'woke algo' so install that and you like the 'whatever else algo' so you install that. Optionality is probs key which would go along with the decentralized nature of things. 

 Yes, you allow the user to tune it.

But the market will fix bad algos too. Building an algo is 1 thing. Hard, but not insane.

Rebuilding an entire platform and server-side structure = harder.

So if an algo goes ban heavy, it's easier on Nostr to upstart a new one. Since the server-side hosting on Nostr is unaffected by a rogue algo. Only the distribution is.

 I don't want a zap but it is true #nostr have now hard time to find the minimum size to have real active communities on different subjects. 
Twitter is so big that people stay for the entertainment . Other new network like farcaster work by greed ( and algo too).
It will take a lot of time before it grows enough , but it is still the only network i want end up to . 

 Agree very much. The nuts and bolts are here. And even though some iffy "layers" exist on top, they can flake away and new ones can build properly on top.

The basics are there though. Chances are still good I think.
