Let's talk a little bit about mattresses. Which one do you find best for you? Latex? In memory foam? In wool? Pocket sprung? On slatted or sprung bed frames? I can't think of any others; I await recommendations.
Solid wood and several layers of blankets folded over 😴
Interesting 🤔
Hammock.
You can't be serious... Do you sleep in one?
I barely sleep. Can't recommend.
My kid does and we do every time we camp. My wife is the only reason I own a bed. 2 in a hammock isn't great. I'm going to figure out what it is and I'll be back.
Oh my God, I could never sleep in a hammock 🤭
It's cheap and you can use it in a forest. Save 800 bucks for sats.
A bunch of wood pallets with a futon mattress
Really?!
I'm on the lighter side <180lb so any mattress with springs has always been uncomfortable because I don't have enough weight to compress them I've been happy using a solid foam mattress. Although I don't know if its memory foam
I slept on a pocket sprung mattress when I went on a cruise last year and I've never slept better 💪
I have a spring mattress with a foam topper. But I'm seriously considering getting rid of all of that and just sleeping on a few blankets directly on my plywood platform.
You're the third person to tell me this, I have to figure out if I could sleep on such a hard surface
I thought memory foam would be a great mattress. A sales lady had me lie down in one and attempt to roll over. It was like trying to roll over in loose sand. Then she informed me that they're often hot, and showed how a company was advertising theirs as the "cooler memory foam" mattress. I turn into a furnace when I sleep, so that one is not for me.
I agree I have one too and these hot weeks I'm dying of sweat
I sadly don't have my parents' level of knowledge (they sell matresses for a living) but there are multi-layered foam mattresses with different hardness levels. You ought to consider: - How healthy your back is, - if you sleep flat or on your side, - if you are a coldboi or warmboi. The difference between the slattered or springloaded bottom is dependent especially on your health situation. The latter is more expensive but has a much better fitment with whatever crazy position your body finds itself in and usually allows for certain regions of that base to have different "resistance" to stabilize you as you sleep. Basically: The hardness of your mattress affects your entire body. Layering and thus mixing materials affects warmth and temperature. The bottom (frame? I only know the german word, "Lattenrost") CAN affect either your whole body or regions. In addition, whats ontop matters too. If you have a pillow flat like a wet noodle, you arent lying stable. Look into slim but wide neck pillows - they are usually curved (cuz your noggin goes there) and also have varying degrees of how thick or soft they are. Picking a harder grade here compared to your mattress helps you to keep a good posture. Thats all I can put out without knocking on my parents door. ^^;
Thank you so much for the information, I didn't know certain things 🤙
a pile of straw on the floor
Pocket sprung, relatively firm, a slatted bed frame that allows air flow through the mattress. Latex and memory foam are torture devices, especially if you are a hot sleeper.
