I'd say that web 3 is neither the semantic web (unfortunately), nor the crytposcam web, but rather the modern, locked-down, siloed, coercive and user-hostile web that we live in today.   y a a y

So Web 2.x was around 2004-2018, and the modern, sinister web has been since then.
