I struggle with allowing plants full spacing and wanting to cram containers full so they look pretty right away. Gardeners what’s your thought process? I allowed spacing for them to grow to their fullest but I’m tempted to add more. #planstr #asknostr #garden #gardening https://image.nostr.build/9d91b8bac692be81d76ed4547f89e483a7b763466542f2a9b02d37fdb8660828.jpg
You can put 9 of them in there, then eat the flowers
They’re under planted with spring bulbs too. Does that make a difference? Daffodils and crocuses
I don't think so but if you already have items in there it might be a bit much to add more in.
You could definitely squeeze a couple more in there. They will be fine. If they all thrive and it gets crowded in a few months you can always relocate some.. think fairly hardy
I know the temptation! I would have put more in there, definitely. I have a similarly-sized container with mostly bulbs in it, but I put six pansies in it the other week.
(The little shoots are the cyclamen starting to emerge.) https://image.nostr.build/5a322b8c0bf082380f3c1dd44dd39ddbef8a261f09bbcfcd781ad2cacb928266.jpg
Spacing from the start is good. Alternatively, at least when starting from seed, my approach is usually to plant densely, and thin things out as plants grow so you can select the strongest specimens. Admittedly I've got more experience with vegetables and herbs than I do with flowers. I know whoever owned my house before me struggled horrendously with the idea of spacing though; I've got half a mind to buy a flamethrower to address the "garden" at the front of the yard.
