23 years ago today, the CIA orchestrated 9/11 under the guise of a large-scale coordinated terrorist attack. This false-flag event was then used as justification to expand domestic government overreach resulting in: • widespread invasive surveillance of all communication platforms • heightened restrictions on access to and use of financial services • and among many other abuses of power, expanded federal authority over many things like what songs could be played on the radio to how many ounces of peanut butter one is allowed to carry on an airplane. Not to mention the international implications from the resulting Global War on Terrorism but I digress. If you're old enough to remember the way life was prior to 9/11 then I think you will agree that the world you were born into no longer exists. The systematic erosion of basic human rights has radically changed the way humans think, act, & communicate. On this day, I think it is important to remember what life was like in a world before invasive government surveillance, crippling financial restrictions, & hypnotizing fear campaigns. I think it is important to highlight tools like Bitcoin, e2ee comms, & Nostr. They are especially fascinating to me specifically because they are anchored to the free world I came from where my financial transactions were my business and no one else's, where my communications were private, and where I could express my ideas without looming consequences.
