Some nostr apps put posts in threads in reverse chronological order like in timelines. As someone who is triggered by top-posting in email threads this seems wrong to me 🤔
Twitter seems to put replies in batshit random order + magic.
Humans read text from top to bottom, why do we mess with this!? #insomniathoughts
If we can do things wrong, why not? 😔
Agree on giving users sane defaults and then an option to customize this.
If there were 1000 comments in this note, the users who read the comments will reach the end.?
What if the way to sort them was according to the interactions that each comment obtained by others who rated it as interesting with like or zap?
I think sorting options makes sense, definitely no one right way in all scenarios
At some point when larger numbers are reached in nostr it will be necessary to reach a consensus. For now it works. 🤙🏼
Reddit gets this right by letting users choose on-demand how they want it sorted.
I didn't know I hate reverse Chrono until I tried to create a sensible UX for it...
Options is the way to go.
I would add that scroll lists become useless once the list is too long. For long lists it would be better to divide them into pages with X number of posts per page. This is how I would approach designing a following list for example where I would ecpect thousands of entries.
It would be nice on Damus to have an option to load new posts on top without auto scrolling to the first new post so you can always start looking at new posts from where you left last time.
It’s not bat shit random order its the inner workings of a delusional douche canoe
