 politics isn't about finding solutions for problems. it's about making up problems that are none and "fixing" those. those fixes usually cause real problems that politicians don't care about.

just ask yourself how did we end up with income tax rates close to 50%?
that, next to printing money, is the solution to many problems that I just can't see. 
 People feel like they need to do something, less meddling and intervention sounds counter intuitive.
