anyone with experience running #windows in a #virtualmachine for #gaming and #streaming on #linux? grateful for any tips and advice.
Look into Bottles for Linux. It creates a Linux Wine environment. It's a Flatpack. There are others you can research from Bottles and Wine..🐧🙂
Uuuh thanks for the advice. Haven't touched Wine in ages, I'm sure it has changed and improved over time. Will give it a try next week!
You want to use a type 1 hypervisor such as kvm. This gives you direct access to your hardware and is very close to the efficiency of bar metal. Look up KVM, libvirt, ovmf, and qemu. After installation, you can install Windows on it.
Hardware access is exactly what I was wondering about. Good to know that performance isn't impacted much either. Thanks for the advice!
just dont use windows. Since proton, ganing isn't an issue.
