#WritersCoffeeClub Should a writer have a face shot on their book cover or within their book? It’s up to them, and/or the publisher. However, this also ties in with the author’s name on the book. Is a face shot and my full name going to sell more books or is it more appealing to readers if I remain ambiguous? Personally, I don’t want to hide who I am. I also find it odd a certain high profile author and TERF uses an ambiguous name and a male pseudonym for her work.
@c09f86d3 should a writer do anything? I think a pseudonym is either a device to protect the writer (e.g. in a dictatorship) or part of the creative process. It can be a very effective device and part of the story (see Snicket, Lemony) or irony (Pseudonymous Bosch). You may be too young or too British to remember the Anonymous who wrote a book about Bill Clinton, but that choice made the book much more effective. And Deep Throat and the Pentagon Papers.
