@2eaaf069 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf Define R5
@a9bc9943 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf WELL THAR'S YER PROBLEM THEN
@2eaaf069 @1a68afdf @a9bc9943 Likely a failing cooler
@✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf @a9bc9943 the case has no friggin air flow, no cooler can cope with that
@2eaaf069 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf Failing cooler my ass, there's nothing wrong with the case. It's a joke, damn 🧩
@a9bc9943 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf I'm serious, the case sucks Get a Fractal Torrent or something like that when you upgrade
@2eaaf069 @1a68afdf @a9bc9943 >he doesn't have a enthoo pro with the metal side panels
@✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf @a9bc9943 >he doesn't shove his case full of dirt when he puts together a PC ngmi
@2eaaf069 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf he doesn't shove his case full of dirt when he puts together a PC Don't worry my shop fan is doing that right now.
@✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @2eaaf069 @1a68afdf I had an Enthoo evolv tempered glass and that was honestly my least favorite case other than the Cooler Master Cosmos 2.
@2eaaf069 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf tempered glass I'm gonna have to pass, I got tired of cases being loud. Also where's the 3.5 inch drive bays? If anything I want the XL version of my case because I want as many hard drives as I can get. https://mstdn.starnix.network/system/media_attachments/files/111/082/352/615/195/501/original/5713ccdec3b2f656.png
@a9bc9943 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf low impedance to airflow makes a case silent, because then the fans don't have to spin up quite as hard. this is a fact. If you need a lot of drives, either get a NAS or give up your pursuit of high-performance computing
@2eaaf069 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf Not if the fans are dogshit, with the exception of cooler masters silencio fans, every 120mm I've had coil whine or failed because the barrings are cheap af.
@a9bc9943 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf you can try out Arctic's P or F series, they work quite well for the price I am however afraid my experience with cheap fans is limited, I don't regret spending 40€ per fan to get top quality ones
@2eaaf069 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf I think I'll get industrial 3000rpm noctua fans next :smugmegu:
@a9bc9943 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf I have one, they're not great for silence.
@2eaaf069 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf I was considering them for a while, but yeah their high end sound is noticable.
@a9bc9943 @2eaaf069 @1a68afdf Im over here with my metal side panels and 8 bay storage https://annihilation.social/media/0d6629b0-2f76-4c66-8deb-b4bd5a960e97/image.png?name=image.png
@a9bc9943 @2eaaf069 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf My main pc is in a now discontinued arc midi r2. Actually has front fan airflow. Always was suspicious of the defines solid front. The bajillion drive bays is nice tho.
I have the define 7xl, which I mostly got because I hate working in cramped cases, though it may work as a nas if you don't want to go the supermicro route. Depending on how much heat you produce, you may want to get the meshify 2 instead, but I'm not having thermal issues with my current setup.
@The Forbidden Creamer @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @2eaaf069 @1a68afdf I'm not really running into issues but I'm considering getting a 2990wx which will probably thermal throttle. However given my workload of ffmpeg that doesn't really matter as much as long as I have more workers.
@a9bc9943 @The Forbidden Creamer @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @1a68afdf please don't murder the computer parts :sadcat1:
