Yes. Nostr's existence depends on jack 's donation. 🙃

Money and resources made a difference. It’s what caused VC backed companies winning and taking over web 2.0 platforms.

Jack’s funding has had a huge impact but he’s done it in a way which doesn’t put himself or other funders in control. It’s one of the more interesting experiments we’re seeing in Nostr.
I agree, Jack did a great thing. Let Nostr grow naturally.

What worries me is that Nostr's clients and relays lack positive incentive mechanisms. Without Jack's financial support, most of them will go bankrupt. I wonder why OpenSats can't allocate some funds to fund Nostr and Bitcoin Lightning Payment's closed-source clients. As long as Nostr and Bitcoin applications can be promoted, I don't know what the difference is between open source and closed source. Let these closed-source products become competitive and self-profitable, and then fund OpenSats in the future. In this way, the Nostr ecosystem can develop healthily. This is also a good experimental direction.
mmm, the spaces where you worry, the more biz minded set see opportunity. Doesn't need to be closed source, lots of people will pay to use open source services that run on nostr + ln. its already happening. its just not "in your face" obvs yet :)
Isn’t the goal that Nostr won’t always have to rely on Big Wealth donations? Genuinely asking.

Offering my story as a view as a non-tech person who believes in freedom tech & made a lot of mistakes trying to do good here. Definitely not judging anyone.

When I first came here I knew almost nothing about technology. Admittedly, still understand very little.

But I did immediately send @jb55 a small amount of money for something as he said he was about to give up. That hit me emotionally as I could read he believed in #Nostr even if I wasn’t all in. Think it was for Discord or something.

Humans should help others when they can. Especially if they are benefiting from it. We all have various resources & skill sets & should try to help others.

While here I’ve had my email hacked & convert tickets stolen. Hope they enjoyed the concert. It’s not that serious to me. 😂

My NIP on another NPUB was at one time an email I use & I took the advice to change it. Even today someone said it reads as something that isn’t what shows on my end. It’s not me being malicious, I truly don’t know WHY it shows that. When I’ve changed it, it reverts back. Currently on vacation but it ends on Monday & I’ll attempt to fix it then.

TLDR: Onboarding for those who aren’t in technology can be hard. There is a learning curve. Some will push through & some may not. For me it comes down to values, that’s why I choose to be here. Even if I show myself to be a technology amoeba 🦠 No shame. 🫂🙌
 Damn typos: concert tickets 😂

The heat is bad.
Ehhhh does it really tho? I think it's be disingenuous to say his donations weren't a huge catalyst for continued development of nostr, but to say it wouldn't be here without him...

Ehhhh idk that's tough.
Trust your instincts, this is the truth, but many people use some high-sounding reasons to whitewash this fact that everyone knows. Jack provided fuel for the Nostr rocket, and it is hard to know whether this fuel can successfully help the Nostr rocket escape the gravity of web2.

I see that many of the illusory slogans of Nostr developers for continued survival are based on Jack's donations, rather than following the logic of market business. People always like to shout utopian slogans, but ignore the problem of Nostr's sustainable development. When the psychedelic drugs that donated funds stopped, all that was left was a group of drunkards lying on the street.
