I’m a huge free speech guy. But this request isn’t unreasonable and I’m willing to at least look into if I can do it.  No promises but I will try to look at the code this weekend. I’m running a fork of someone else’s code so I didn’t build it from scratch. 

I’m also willing to make it a separate bot so people have the choice to block the original bot and follow the one with content warnings. Again, I think this is reasonable.  Feel free to disagree, that’s fine. I’m not being asked to take the bot down as that would be a hard no even though that had certainly led to a bunch of domain blocks which I think is silly but it’s their instance and they can be silly with it. But if this option allows more people to follow the raw content, that’s ok with me.

Being reasonable is a good way to cede a principle.

The big point is that if you accept the whine-bullying, you end up creating an environment where anything controversial must be hidden.

Over time this goes down the predictable slippery slope. 

 Not being reasonable is a way to be alone with your principles. 

Like I said, if the code can be made to do it I’ll offer it as a separate bot and let people decide for themselves.

When the slippery slope kicks in, your principles do not matter.

You become complicit because you yield to a special interest instead of standing up for what you know to be true. 

 Whatever dude. I’m not proposing any restrictions on anyone. I’m offering more choices without taking any choices away. If that isn’t good enough for some folks, that’s a them problem.

I can’t please everyone nor do I care to.
