@d55ed39b Its an interesting Q.; in general I'd say that its all an issue of social perception - while the developments can be treated as structural or accidental then it will likely continue (the role of the media here is crucial)... its only, as we to some extant are seeing now, when the actually processes of advantage are clearer that social change might take place.... (if you've not read Margaret Archer's Culture & Agency, I'd recommend it; she has a good argument on this process)
