Today people find an ideology and graft the ideas into their personality. They tattoo symbols on themselves they don't fully understand, they regurgitate words and phrases that their online idols have spoken they do not think on their own, many are incapable of it even. They disrespect anyone who may have a different view than them even if it's not opposed to their view. There are no open arms only closed fists and clenched jaws. I know this because not long ago that was me.
Please those of you who haven't questioned your own views in a while please do so. Life is way to short and to precious to waste just bashing one another, I know we will never all fully agree on everything and that's ok, I just want to see people to begin to respect themselves and their neighbors again.
This is why I went from centrist monarchist, to hardcore conservative to right-wing traditionalist libertarian, all over the past decade. I'm at the point where I want to go back to the Gilded Age and it has been a journey getting to this point.
With that attitude, you might feel right at home at Stacker News.
