If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to never ignore your “gut feeling” about something or someone. Listen to it and investigate. You’re often more right than wrong, and even if you ARE wrong, giving yourself that little bit of time to look into things gives you that much more confidence in your decisions.

Completely. I've always trusted that feeling. And encourage everyone to examine it carefully when you sense it. It's saved me many many times from physical harm as both an adult and a child If you haven't read it, I strongly recommend the book, The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker. It was a very interesting and insightful read about where those gut feelings come from, from an evolutionary and biological perspective, and why we need to listen to them. de Becker is one of the foremost security experts in the world. In fact, he was doing the security for Rfk Jr before the white house decided to give him a secret service detail.
Thanks for the book recommendation! 🙏
No problem. I have an EPUB, I could get you, if you're interested.

The only time I ever get hurt in life is when I don’t trust my gut

Hesitate and get hurt
All My gut gives me is bloat 😂

The gut feel is a bit like a heuristic approach. It sums up several aspects of things and feelings about them that you often cannot even name or put in words to explain.
I’ve always gone with my gut feeling and work out the details later.
There might be some underlying bias. Like if you listen to your gut feeling and do the alternative and were wrong, then the feeling is strong towards "trust gut". However if you go with the gut and were wrong we don't get the same kind of emotional reaction and its quickly forgotten.
💯. Gut feelings are usually a sign that your subconscious is picking up signals from your senses that your conscious mind has not yet processed. Creating space and time is key to letting the conscious mind catch up. In the helicopter world we teach people to respect this process when conducting operations such as an approach to a new landing zone. Many stories of it not “feeling right” followed by stopping the approach and then seeing the power lines you would have hit had you continued a minute later. In many areas of life it might be days, weeks, or months before you “see” the hazard.
