 I logged into sats.gg using nostr extension and it seems like I’ve lost all the ppl I follow. 

Yesterday I used nostr extension to sign into zap.cooking and it reverted my entire profile back to what it was 6 months ago. 

What is going on? #asknostr

 Do you run a nostr relay? If you don’t back up your profile on your own relay this happens sometimes. Kind of a trade off that you can not be censored, But running your own relay gives government officials a total record of your posts. Otherwise you can just take what you can get on public relays.

 Also many relays helps. I have 35 I am connected to I think. Look on my profile and click on relays. There are a lot.

 Happened a few times. I think it's a syncronization/stale event thing. I've seen warnings on Primal to effect that commiting to a follow might lose data (so don't if you see that.)

It is handy to put a relay on a local node or vps to backup all your events, sth like Start9/Umbrel or on a vps. If anything happens can rebroadcast events from other relays back to yours. I used https://usenostr.org/relay (uses same frontend as Umbrel) then broadcast with https://github.com/leesalminen/nostr-broadcast can use a tool like https://github.com/rot13maxi/key-convertr to convert my npub/nsec from decimal to hex.

Bit of a rabbithole, but worked well!
