What's the case against giving relays npubs and where can I read about it? #askdevs
Probably better to just refer to the owner npub in the NIP11. I have thought about making an npub for my relays before though. It could be done now and used as the owner npub.
My main need is relay IDs that are not URL's
 Hm? What for?
The owner could make some sort of event that defines one I suppose.
I do like that, although urls change, and usually for good reason. I'm not sure how useful an ID would be without a way to lookup it's address (url). Kind of looking into some type of DNS identifier.
It can and will be done in some cases. Those that don't want to are narrowly limiting a natural expansion of a relay's abilities under certain circumstances.
I thought relays already had pubkeys in nip11
 That's an administrative contact npub.

I need it to **be the relay**.
 what is the use case?
