 I've just finished the book and the interview.

To me, Lionel seems to suffer from an unbalanced diet of being extremely well informed about how the delicate systems that hold our world together can crash, while not having explored what is being done to build new instruments for better systems. As you said in the interview, Bitcoin is a tool among many which are being independently developed to strengthen the individual. I hope she comes around and ventures down the rabbithole a little, there are nuggets of hope everywhere to be found.
