If I have the choice of going to a church that praises God or one that denounces the devil, I'm going to go to the one headed in the right direction. Following fools has never been a benefit to me.
My perspective is it’s good to speak out against things that are evil or unwise. It leaves room for people to choose many different positive things TO do. It is more respecting of freedom and individual choice. Telling someone what TO do is important for guidance. But telling someone what not to do is important for boundaries. I see both as necessary in everyday life as well as churches, since you brought them up.
