China foreign minister says Beijing and Jakarta want regional peace and stability

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi have pledged to strengthen economic ties and maintain peace and stability in the region. Wang called for all parties in the Gaza conflict to exercise restraint and urged the United States to support a United Nations resolution for a ceasefire. Chinese investment in Indonesia reached over $7.4 billion last year. Both countries pledged to maintain peace in the Indo-Pacific region and accelerate negotiations on the code of conduct on the South China Sea. Wang is scheduled to attend a high-level dialogue cooperation mechanism meeting in Labuan Bajo on Friday.
