Do you think Boomers are so used to having to change how they do things – having been born into black and white television, typewriters, and little/no acceptance of homosexuality – that some of them just automatically accept any “updates” that seem to have been mandated by society? Like, the same older woman could been told that burritos are now eaten with the feet and she would have thought, “No problem. I’m a savvy senior. I’ll fill my friends in on the update.”

I can’t think of any society that has changed as much as ours has in the life of a Boomer, especially without an invasion or another drastic change in rulers/government. I’m afraid a lot of us – not just Boomers – are trained to see any change, even a negative one, as something that must be embraced.
It is possible, but boomers like my mom and dad are having none of the gender shit for example, so I can't say for sure. It definitely might be like that for some.

I got the feeling though, that this "they" was probably a member of the family or something, so the woman might've been advocating for a trans-identified family member, but I guess that doesn't really matter in the end.

I suppose the widespread support they see of gender ideology in government, schools, presidency, medical community etc is most likely assuring them that this is the way though. People in the highest of places are all backing this.

If you are a person uneducated about the "other side" of what they're not showing, (all the negatives) it's easy to follow suit and think that there's no problem. I was like that at first. I knew nothing of the negatives, so thought there weren't any.
I’m glad about your Mom and Dad!
Yes, too, I agree that it must be hard for some people to wrap their heads around the fact that all those centers of power are embracing a seemingly ridiculous concept without the concept somehow being true.
