We need more creative uses for waste heat.
Do you have something in mind rn? I'm curious.
 Greenhouse aquaponics is jamming
Heat has a quality scale … high pressure, high temperature, high thermal capacity heat (steam) is the best.

Low temp, low pressure, low thermal capacity (ambient air) is poor quality.

Some of this is just thermodynamic fact … poor quality waste heat doesn’t generate electricity cost effectively.

Bitcoin mining is about the cheapest sources of electricity. The difficulty adjustment eventually punishes expensive sources of electricity applied to the network.

TL;DR - bitcoin does NOT fix this
Meh quality can depend on perspective
Unfortunately, the heat coming off miners is very poor quality heat.
That is if you’re trying to burn someone
HaHa. Yes, that would be a different use case all together.
 Wrong.
Bitcoin miners give off a very low grade heat because it does not have a high temperature and when compared to quality heat sources, it gives off less heat as well. An engine for instance, has a very high temperature and is a high quality heat and gives off a boat load of heat. Heat reuse from a BTC miner is not efficient. There has to be a high heat differential between the heat that you are using and the ambient air for there to be a use case. That is not to say that you cant use some heat off a miner that could be useful when warming a bedroom or something like that. To justify that use case you would also need to have a high heat cost in the first place. There certainly are use cases, but to scale, its not an efficient heat source.
If you need a high air flow with moderate heat, like for a green house or drying then its ok, shouldn’t be so mean about the grade of the heat, we don’t know what can be done with it… compressed steam in hot pipes also has issues.
@BTCsessions has a great guide on building a DIY BTC mining space heater with an underclocked S9: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csmHvuzUECU , with 3D printed kit from @CryptoCloaks
 Laundromats
I want to see a tumble dryer retro fit! Seen hot water, heard about suana and a swimming pool. Nearly all the big ticket energy costs can be sub’d out.
I believe @rev.hodl had done a dryer retrofit?

LMAO. Watching all the people shit on waste heat is hilarious in this thread.

Small brain thinking TBH.

Understanding heat capacity isn’t “small brained thinking” … it seems like you don’t understand thermodynamics and the concept of relative quality. Any process or good that benefits from miner “waste heat” (air or immersion) would benefit from better quality heat (higher temperature, higher heat capacity industrial waste heat) … some bitcoiners are real dense (unlike most waste heat) on important physical science issues.
Thank you for the detailed engineering description. Changes nothing from my original post.
Agreed. It is as wrong as it was originally.
 Thank you engineer
