@Shadowman311 nothing and nobody is stopping studios from hiring famous internet personalities to work on their games, permanently or temporarily. Such a thing happened to MVG.
I think it has more to do with tge corporate structure chasing a dime for a dollar and blowing huge amounts on shit that isnt making a game. Theres more devs and shit than ever but when bungie was making halo it was like 20 guys. Now these companies belong too massive conglomerates that only focus on money and marketing.
most real talent is not making youtube videos, it's dying on the vine while corporations hire infinity bipoc "creatives"
Nobody talks about the dearth of creativity though. Millennial creators, artists only turn out a hot dog emulsion of their favorite franchises.

Look at any art school kid trying to break into the industry, it’s generic sci fi with a handful of inspirations. “Oh this guy loves dead space, halo, and cyberpunk. Hmmm, this one really liked the thor world in marvel movies, but he added some old naboo architecture to it”

They don’t live REAL lives, gain human experiences rooted in something other than life through a media lens, so all they can do is grab meat from every franchise they like, blend it together, and cook it into a weenie

I still say rise of women in the industry(movies/games), but maybe they are siphoning off into other ventures (ie content creation). I think there is at least a part of that....
@Shadowman311 that is a fascinating idea, as a modder I've been asked to do coding streams. I know I'd hate working on a team because it's a hobby, but I can definitely see the argument that people who would be innovating are sitting on stream saying 'why can't it be like this' instead of spending the time making it like that
