Cute, but no... You get NO notification that someone you followed posted something 3 days ago, and you haven't logged in for a week. The only way you will see it is if you actively seek out that person's posts, or you happen to scroll far enough through your feed that it shows up.
I am relatively informal about who I follow. If you follow me, I will follow you back. But maybe I want to be notified if someone in particular, like @Vitor Pamplona, posts something, because it may be a new update for my favorite client.
Ah, I understand now. No notification are a feature for me personally 😅 If you use the F-Droid version of Amethyst you might want to try the Google Play one, I think it has notifications 🤔

We're also talking about different types of notifications, too.
There are notifications that only show up in your notifications tab, such as when someone reacts to your note, and there are push notifications, such as for when someone zaps your note, which show up in your phone's notifications, even when the app isn't open.
Neither type of notification is available for say "subscribing" to a person's notes. You just have to hope you see the notes you really care about when scrolling through your feed.
