Anyone care to give a synopsis on the Ocean announcement? What exactly is it? How does it work? Why does it matter?

I was chastised for asking about it earlier 😂 thanks @NostReport for the tldr
It also awards you for your real hashrate. All other pools pull a average hashrate over n period since it cannot poll the real time hashpower. TIDE is able to get real time hashrate so you're getting paid for your actual hash, not a promise against your supposed running average hash.
can we point nerdminers at it?
I don't see why not. It's extremely easy. All you need is the url. Your account is simply your bitcoin wallet address. You can add a .workername after to identify each worker separately. And the password is x The only problem is payouts are still set for 1m sats. BUT that will change when they go to implement lightning next year. Also if you are below the threshold and haven't mined for a long time, they will pay you out at their discretion. A bit of a trust me bro sorta situation but better than nothing like all the other pools.
If you don't mine bitcoin, don't worry about it. If you do mine bitcoin, you can now mine directly into your wallet address instead of using a custodial pool account and naming workers. Also, now you can use their block template to mine specific sizes of blocks to filter out transactions they don't want to mine, like ordinals for example.
