I would love to see a team try to build Strava on Nostr. It would be so cool if anyone, regardless of the fitness tracker or phone app they use, could share their running data on a shared social layer.
It always felt like apps like Strava were great for tracking runs, but trying to force a social usecase when non really existed. Trying to boostrap your social graph from a running app kind of sucks. This is exactly why Strava on Nostr makes so much sense. 🏃♂️
interesting. what would this app do besides sharing runs?
Anything any other Nostr client could do, including all of your existing Nostr network. More Nostr apps plz.
I want to do everything that Whoop does and more
Almost every device that tracks the GPS (and logs any other sensor data) have the option to read out that data (GPX/FIT files). Or just connect to the API of platforms like Strava, Komoot, RideWithGPS, TrainingPeaks etc to fetch all the data you need in a client.
Rebuild wodify on nostr while we're at it.
Something like an open source Whoop Strap would be perfect to start experimenting with cool social experiences with physical activity data
Who is going to build it?

someone gotta fork that runner up app 🤙
I discussed this same idea already with several ppl @arkinox @bitpopart (nostride.cc) and @fiatjaf (about if it would make sense to fit the GPX spec into a NIP / event kind)
I use Strava a lot (for my activities) and also Komoot (for building cycling and gravel routes).
So if anyone is going to build this, I would like to be involved 😉
Yes we will do the cycling🚴♂️🤙 and I hope also some day to add my #photography @traveltelly with GPS in it to a Nostr app. Have still so much content from around the world📸
This sounds like a really good idea to me too. Biometric info (your runs, your heart rate, etc) seems to me quite a valuable info to protect. Happy to contribute if I can
Would love nostr reviews for maps locations. Maybe even photos. You know, like Google maps...
Does Strava let developers do integrations? Maybe that would be the go?
