I really don't think you have to assume you lost your nsec, there's been lots of people who lost follows for just data inconsistency reasons, client incompatibility, things like that. 

 Good to know. I am suspecting a client on my iPad but won't say anything until I confirm    

 https://metadata.nostr.com/ can be used to restore a follow list. Some client bugs have caused this issue in the past.
