 The ability to cryptographically sign new events  with your secret private key under your unique nostr identity - npub......

 It's not really verification of identity or status, since there is no actual verification occuring and they can be obtained for free at little effort. Effectively it's a kind of vanity badge that may or may not tell others about you or a website that you are associated with 🙂
