I still think nostr needs some sort of organized foundation. Are people allergic because of shitcoin roadmap foundations and previous attempts with Bitcoin?

This is very different. And nonprofit designation for a foundation working directly with/for a freedom tech protocol makes a lot of sense? Anyways, I want a board seat! Or I can help with the nonprofit if people are serious…
what would they do if not allocate funding to the people who actually have the vision and the coding ability?

guide the....vision??

since I joined the best improvements have come from very small teams, or individual developers. they didn't need an org to build any of their great ideas out to market. some of them had no funding prior to their contributions and have since acquired some funding (arguably not enough though).

we don't need to round up a bunch of people to guide freedom tech, we need to support the people who build it, like Opensats and HRF.

Freedoms are not granted, they're taken and defended.

I do not open the lotus, the lotus opens its petals all on its own revealing its beauty.

Maybe I'm missing your point altogether though..
There are few like HRF and opensats that fund devs. If you mean an organization that "controls" nostr , then you have joined the wrong protocol 😛
lol did I say control, no!

Yeah it’s great they’re funding nostr. Just a nonprofit solely dedicated to nostr in terms of research and funding would be cool! Like a think tank. Nostr is still permissionless and anyone can build on it, that’ll never change nor would I want it to.
All I want is someone to control the NIP numbers.
It was joke, a nostr dedicated think tank 🤔 that could be cool
This is something I've been thinking about a lot. All traditional business offer a good or service in response to a market demand. This naturally creates a need to advertise the available good or service which is accompanied with on boarding assistance and ongoing support for whatever they are offering.

We are not at a point in society where self/digital Sovereignty are cool or attractive to most. And, because nostr is not a business there is no firm or customer facing entity to explain the benefits, use cases, and advantages of such. Also there is a definite learning curve to the use of bitcoin/nostr and that burden falls upon the individual.

It does seem like there is space to offer some of these things as a service. To be a "user facing" representative of the protocol
Foundations at times end up being just as crappy as corporations. If you look at things like the Linux Foundation, Rust, or Gnome.. they sometimes cause more problems or become political tools. Hell, Mozilla is a Foundation and they crap all over Firefox... figuring out how to avoid such things is needed before any major organizational step.
