i just realized… Apple is on course to become increasingly irrelevant. And they cant see it.
It will be a slow decline but it has already started
yeah it will have ups and downs, and may even look like the opposite for short bursts. but without massive changes they are a dying giant.
Microsoft has been a dying giant for maybe 15 years now. It will take time but it's the natural life cycle of most companies which have that much success. Success which extends through generations and is based upon hard work is extremely rare in any area of life. It's one of the biggest accomplishments for those who can pull it off. The pull towards safety and coasting is very strong.
You're wrong if you think they "can't see it". That's why they fight for their walled gardens. That's why they will keep throwing mud at the wall to see what sticks. Oh, the vision pro failed? Consumer Iteration 1 did. Remember the Newton? Lead to iPhone. Not the Motorola phone that had iTunes in it. Iterations. We don't even know what lurks in the bowels of Cupertino. And what lurks is what they're working on to appeal to widest audience possible. Maybe not you but your family or the kid down the street. But what do I know? I haven't had an Apple product since the 3GS.
