 It's an everything protocol in the sense that it's the locus of public identity. Of course other protocols will be used to achieve different use cases, there is no silver bullet.

 Yeah, that's a good point. I took the quote out of context. He said this after talking about how Facebook became the "everything app" and that the same kind of thing can happen on nostr in microapps.
