I don't believe I or the writer used the word "current arguments".
The RB scandal has allowed them to trot out the same old same old arguments. 

We see from Afghanistan how freedom from suppression (including arranged child marriages) can be snatched away from women in the blink of a regime change.
We have to resist. There is a large army of men who want all Western countries to revert to something like Afghanistan.
