In case you’re not following along, the State of California has spent over $11 billion since 2008 to build a high speed rail system from Los Angeles to San Francisco. This week they posted their first completion.
1,600 feet. Of concrete. No rails yet.
This feels like an Ayn Rand novel.
You can tell they aren’t serious about the work, because there isn’t any other construction going on. It’s just one segment all alone. Equipment is all cleaned up, worksite dismantled.
If you were planning to build 700 miles of track, would you bring in every separate trade group to build one segment start to finish, send everyone home, and then call them all back one at a time for the next segment? Of course not. https://i.nostr.build/nW7Ka.jpg
It better run on electricity too 🤡
Try looking into the rail in Hawaii
Is this a good rundown? I am sad after reading it. The 60s would have been a much better time to implement than now.

Good history, but they’re being nice. What they ended up building is regarded and doesn’t help with the traffic. They took forever to finish building it which caused more traffic for more than a decade. I don’t know any locals who actually ride it and pretty much everyone hates it. It doesn’t even go to the airport, Waikiki, or the university. You can go from nowhere to nowhere on it. Hahaha peak 🤡🌎.
People I’ve talked to said the whole thing was a scam to funnel tax payer money into contractor pockets
That sucks. A train for tourists that doesn’t run along tourist paths. 🤡 🌍
It was also supposed to be a train for locals to get to work and for university students. Lots of locals live at home while attending the university. Causes a lot of traffic.
At least we found our Galt’s Gulch. 😉
