Finished foundation season 2. The second half improves, but it’s still absolutely terrible. The writing is so bad, I was laughing at half the scenes. Character deaths were made meaningless by the halfisted dialogue and Cotillard-like performances. It’s the realm of Deus Ex Machina and coincidences and chance, instead of celebrating the agency of 1 person to impact the whole future.
It missed what the book was about, turning it into stories about individuals. Season 1 was far better!
@39c11d1e Would you recommend the book? I've only seen the series and overall its "meh" 😅
@39c11d1e Time to read the book! Btw thanks for your Linux content. Really enjoy it to keep up with what's going on in the Linux desktop sphere.
@39c11d1e have you watched The Silo ? Did not think i would enjoy it, but it's pretty good.
@39c11d1e it's almost impressive to see the extent to which they dropped the ball, having been handed an unlimited budget and all the material to create a franchise that could eclipse Disney's star wars. It takes a lot of effort to fail as hard as they did with Foundation. I hope they never touch Dan Simmons' Hyperion.
@39c11d1e I decided from the start that I'd view the show as completely separate from the books. So far that is working out quite well for me.
@39c11d1e I quite enjoyed it. From the books I only read the first two and stopped at the third I think. The search for earth was just getting too boring.
@39c11d1e this makes me feel better about giving up after the first few episodes in season 1. it looked like it was on a broken track already...if you think S1 was better than S2? yikes, v glad i didn't spend anymore minutes watching 😆
